Once again this year, we will celebrate the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. holiday with an inspiration through a beauty-themed evening of Jazz. Charles Mingus was a celebrated composer, bassist and band leader. His compositions and their recordings place musical explorations of the modern atop the foundation of African-American Musical Culture. He fearlessly addressed the racism of his era, sadly continuing, in his work. Analysis and commentary aside, it is just beautiful music beautifully played. Please join us as we listen to and then discuss this inspiring music. To participate, click this link or provide the meeting ID 783 475 1861 and passcode 1652 (if requested) on Zoom.com, the Zoom app, or after calling 1-646-558-8656.
