Gathering at Raytheon to Commemorate the 75th Anniversary of the Bombing of Hiroshima
A coalition of peace groups (including our Peace & Social Justice Committee which is a co-sponsor) is sponsoring three events to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the atomic bombing of Hiroshima. We will gather at Raytheon, a leading war profiteer and developer of a new nuclear wapon (10 Moulton St, Cambridge, where we’ve been holding a Meeting for Worship on the 3rd Sunday of every month). After a short presence there we will walk down Concord St. to Faucet St. and gather for statements and sharing of what Hiroshima has means to us. Wearing masks is mandatory as is maintaining 6’ social distancing. Some members of the group will attempt to deliver a “Cease and Desist” order to the executives of Raytheon. Non-violence training is required for those wishing to do possible civil disobedience. There are additional events scheduled at 6:00pm on the FMC lawn and at 7:00pm at lower Longfellow Park near FMC.
