Join the FMC Team Today for the Virtual Mother’s Day Walk for Peace
Peace & Social Justice and Friends for Racial Justice Committees invite all to participate in this year’s “walk”, an annual Boston-area community witness which raises funds to support families who have lost loved ones to violence.
Here is a little history: Back in the 1990s, the late Al Starr, who was white and part of this meeting, and his longtime partner Hazel, who was African American, lost her/their black grandson to murder. Al invited FMC to join them in this witness and fundraising, and many at FMC have been part of this yearly walk and witness ever since.
This year, our walk will be held online. Walk virtually with us as we celebrate 25 years of walking for peace! Join our 25 Days of Walking, beginning in April, leading up to our online broadcast on May 9, 2021 at 9:00 a.m. on www.mothersdaywalk4peace.org.
Today or soon, click this link to go to the Louis D. Brown Institute’s website to sign up as part of the FMC team name — “Cambridge, Friends Meeting at”. On the registration page, after the T-shirt section, you will see mention of “teams” and then a line reading “credit this event registration to a fundraiser”. Below that is a space with arrows which when you click on it brings up a dropdown menu where you will find “Cambridge, Friends Meeting at” listed. Select that team name when you register. Then you can go on to invite friends and family to support you spiritually and through donations on this walk and they too can link to the FMC team.
Thank you and hope to see many of you on the team page and “on the walk” in April.
