Our annual all-Meeting for worship near Raytheon will be held on the third Sunday in October, 2018, at the request of Ministry and Counsel. This year is the seventh anniversary of our first Meeting for Worship at Textron. For the last seven years, we held a Meeting for Worship on the third Sunday of every month outside Textron Industries in Wilmington, MA, which manufactured cluster bombs, but they decided to end this manufacture. We now hold a Meeting for Worship every month in front of Raytheon in Cambridge (on Concord Avenue at the intersection at 10 Moulton Street). Raytheon is the nation’s and the world’s fourth largest defense contractor and the leading manufacturer of guided missiles.
Everyone who is able is encourage to join in this corporate witness on Sunday, the 21st. We encourage parents to bring children to Raytheon who are able to meaningfully participate in the worship, particularly junior high and high school students. For younger children (through junior high) who do not go to Raytheon, childcare will be provided at Friends Meeting at Cambridge until 12:30 pm. To arrange childcare please contact Greg Woods at 413-251-6512 or at firstname.lastname@example.org. For those who are not able to attend worship at Raytheon the Meeting House will be open for worship.
Carpools will leave FMC at 10:30 am. Please bring a chair, if convenient. Bring sun protection since there is limited shade. Parking can be found on Moulton Street, on the next block.
The worship at Raytheon is not a demonstration or protest, and we are not politicizing our spirituality. Rather we are praying to understand where wars come from and to shine the Light on the destructive forces that support war. We display large signs that read “Quakers Praying for Peace” to inform passersby about our presence. Please contact John Bach with any questions at email@example.com.
