Flyer: Basic Community Workshop
You are invited to attend an Alternatives to Violence Project (AVP) workshop on Martin Luther King Day weekend!
AVP is an important outreach of Friends and friends, promoting peaceful solutions to conflict and violence or potential violence, both physical and social. The project began in prisons as a collaboration between people imprisoned and Quakers. The center of AVP is transforming power, which in itself changes lives.
We practice community and skill building. You will learn:
• To speak honestly without attacking
• Offer support for taking risks
• Practice resolving daily conflicts
This basic workshop is the first step to becoming an AVP facilitator for those interested.
In this workshop we have the opportunity to be hosted by the Cambridge Community Center, and expect attendance also by members of the Western Avenue Baptist Church.
Please join us in this exciting opportunity of learning, community and outreach!
