Quaker Basics: How do we know when to speak?
Which is to say: What do you do? What’s happening in the silence? Who speaks, and why, and how do people discern when to speak? How do you listen?
At this “Quaker Basics” session, you’ll hear from a group of both longtime and newer attendees in a 30-40 minute panel. Then, join in on 20-30 minutes of participatory discussion.
WHAT TO EXPECT:
The panel will be available via Zoom and Facebook Live. Then, we’ll move to Zoom for discussion.
All perspectives and questions are welcome! This series especially welcomes newcomers and folks who are newer to Quaker practice, as well as longtime attendees who wish to reflect with a beginner’s mind.

ABOUT MEETING FOR WORSHIP:
Meeting for Worship is rooted in silence, but the silence is not emptiness—rather, Friends gather in expectant waiting. We believe that there is “that of God” in all people, through Meeting for Worship, make space to encounter it. Anyone at a Quaker meeting might be led to speak; ministry and encounters with Spirit may also occur in silence.
