Witches, Quakers, and Halloween, Oh My!
Guys, it’s spooky season, and our discussion prompt tips its (witch) hat to both Quaker history and Halloween! Together, we’ll watch Youtuber and dress historian Abby Cox’s new video about the history of the classic pointy witch hat that we see in Halloween decorations this time of year. Turns out witch hat history includes lots about gender, transgressing unjust power structures, and juicy Quaker history! As one Youtube commenter put it, “So Quaker women were the original punks? Sweet.” We’ll watch the video together (BYO popcorn/dinner), so no homework required. Then we’ll discuss!
