Listed below are some of the ways that Friends Meeting at Cambridge provides care and support for members and attenders.

Pastoral care at FMC is facilitated by group of meeting members who have been trained in the Community of Hope method of pastoral care. They provide the following types of care and support to individuals within our community:

  • Friendly visits to someone’s home or a visit to someone in a hospital or nursing home
  • Accompaniment to a medical appointment
  • Prepare and/or deliver meals
  • Conversations to assist in determining the need for a Support or a Clearness Committee
  • Supportive visits and listening presence during a challenging life experience
  • Send cards on behalf of FMC

If you, or someone you know within our FMC community, might benefit from one of these care and support activities, please let us know. You may reach the program by emailing your request to the pastoral care group.

The Prayer Circle is a small group that meets from 5:00 to 6:30pm EDT on the fourth Tuesday of the month on Zoom. We welcome anyone who is in need of prayers or who is moved to pray for others. You can put a request for prayers or praise in the wooden box with that name located in the entrance to the Meetinghouse or send a request to prayers@fmcquaker.org. We pray for members, attenders, families, and friends.

To participate, click this link or provide the meeting ID 885 7977 8713 and passcode 351349 (if requested) on Zoom.com, the Zoom app, or after calling 1-646-558-8656.

In response to a shared concern Ministry and Counsel or other care committee may facilitate a focus group on a topic such as bereavement, career in transition, spirituality and the end of life.

The Adult Spiritual Education Group organizes faithfulness groups based on the work of Marcelle Martin.  See  Whole Heart and her Guide to Faithfulness Groups. Faithfulness Group participants provide each other ongoing accompaniment and mutual support in discerning divine guidance and being faithful. Contact spiritualed@fmcquaker.org for current openings.
Members and attenders often find support and fellowship in working on shared goals held by committees and groups.  Click here for the list of active committees and groups.
