Join us as we explore the June theme: “A Walk Through the Seasons: Indigenous Perspectives on Nature and Its Gifts.” We will read This Is How I Know by Anisishinaabe author Brittany Luby, will sing together, share a Body Prayer as well as an art project about the seasons before settling down to enjoy waiting worship. After Family Worship we will have several special Indigenous-related events:

  • 12:15-1:00pm — Special lunch inspired by Indigenous local foods (following Fellowship with Refreshments from 11:45-12:15pm).
  • 1:00-2:00pm — Performance of “First Encounter Flashback,” Annawon Weedon (of Pequot/Narrangansett/Wampanoag lineage) will tell the story of life in Massachusetts in 1600s using music, dance, and traditional clothes.
  • 2:00-3:30pm — Games and making cornhusk action figures and other fun activities.

Typically the first Sunday of the month (October-June) children and adults gather in the Friends Room and on Zoom for a semi-programmed intergenerational worship experience. We will do introductions, sing, read a story and talk about it, play a game or have an activity and share a time of waiting worship. Join us!

You are cordially invited to share ideas about books and themes we might use in the future. You are invited to join the Family Worship Planning Group to help plan one worship or many. It’s a fun and collaborative process!
