Join us this workshop on having conversations about Israel-Palestine.  We will be joined by Alex McDonald, member of Live Oak Friends Meeting in Houston, Texas and author of How I Learned to Speak Israel – An American’s Guide to a Foreign Policy Language and When They Speak Israel – A Guide to Clarity in Conversations about Israel. Alex will conduct this workshop where we will unpack messages we often hear about Israel-Palestine – such as ‘Does Israel have the right to defend itself?’ and ‘That comment is anti-Semitic’ and formulate response strategies and tactics.

There will be exercises including message analysis and unpacking, identification of unspoken narratives and how they impact the conversation, and how to respond accordingly.  Role playing will solidify these concepts.  The workshop will use, and is based on, Alex’s reference guide When They Speak Israel — A Guide to Clarity in Conversations About Israel.  If possible, buy this guide here (hard copy) or here (hard copy and Kindle) and read it before the workshop.
