Memorial Minutes Meeting for Worship (Friends Room / Open Zoom)
This event will be rescheduled at a later date due to extreme heat.
Ministry & Counsel with the help of Friends throughout the Meeting has been working hard to live up to the long-standing Quaker tradition of writing memorial minutes about members after they die, focusing on their connection to Quakerism and the Meeting in a way that newspaper obituaries do not. We have about a dozen in the works, and invite you to a hybrid Meeting for Worship in the Friends Room at 7:00–8:30 p.m. on the summer solstice, Thursday, June 20, to listen to seven of them.
The Friends we will be remembering that longest day of the year are Hugh Barbour, Elisabeth Cotten, Russ de Burlo, Joanie Griscom, Everett Mendelsohn, Will Watson, and Marilee Wheeler. Click on the individual’s name to read their memorial minute.
We will be hosting a potluck before the Meeting for Worship, also in the Friends Room, but at 6:00. The kitchen will be open at 5:00 if your dish needs any heating up beforehand. Volunteers are needed both for setup and for clean up after worship ends.
We are grateful to Jessica Ronalds’ granddaughter Aza Abrams who will play the piano for us between the potluck and the Meeting for Worship.
