This Oscar-nominated 1 hour 47 minute film investigates abuse at a Canadian Indian residential school. It depicts St. Joseph’s School mistreating students and hiding many student deaths. Bravely, Native investigators and survivors bear witness to painful truths. Love endures within their families despite the genocide. Many tender and healing rituals unfold. This movie explains the violence, without any graphic violence. We will offer queries and emotional support. Be prepared, the movie does not dodge the abuse. Neither should we. Bring Kleenex. We will try to provide childcare, if you make a request in advance to childcarerequest@fmcquaker.org.
Doors open at 6:15pm. Donations are appreciated to cover the film rental cost and to support the North American Indian Center of Boston, which supports advocacy and Indigenous culture.
