There are high levels of viruses circulating in our FMC community this winter and in the eastern Mass area. For this reason, HEART (HEAlthy Reopening Team) reminds community members attending events at 5 Longfellow Park that if they or their child/children have any symptoms of illness they should stay home to protect others in our community. Some of our community members have underlying health conditions or are of the age where the flu or COVID could require hospitalization or have serious repercussions.
People should stay home (and participate by zoom) if:
- You or your kids have not been fever-free for 24 hours without taking any fever-lowering medications OR
- You or your kids are showing any symptoms, such as sneezing, coughing, diarrhea, nausea/vomiting, brain fog, achiness, or runny nose OR
- You or your kids have had a known recent exposure to flu, norovirus or COVID (where you may be contagious even though you are not showing symptoms yet).
Flu and norovirus are of particular concern in addition to COVID-19, though there are other viruses that are causing significant illnesses.
The good news is that March is around the corner and based on prior years it is reasonably likely that rates of flu, norovirus and COVID will decline in March and April as people spend more time outside.
Thank you so much for your consideration and help in minimizing severe illness at Friends Meeting at Cambridge.
