Arthur E. Pennell, the son of Arthur J. and SaraSue Pennell, was born October 17, 1958 and died May 15, 2026. He became a full member of FMC when Ed and Marian Sanders were the resident friends (early 1980s). He attended First Day School, and with a push from his father, Arthur J., led the other children out of meeting to First Day School.

He was born with a movement disorder of unknown etiology which progressed during his life time. When the medicine Artane was tried for him, he called it the “ArtTamer” and it was used for the rest of his life. Although seriously dyslexic, he had a huge vocabulary and a way with puns and jokes. Arthur had many challenges, but led an active life. He loved speeding on a three wheel adult tricycle through Lexington where he lived all his life. Earlier he had driven a motor bike also as fast as possible. When he finally acquired a walker he was reminded it was a walker not a runner.

He lived his last years at CareOne in Lexington. Arthur made friends wherever he was. There will be a memorial meeting for worship at 2pm August 8, at FMC.
