WORSHIP CENTERED DISCUSSION (Parlor / Zoom)

Forums occur on 1st, 2nd and 3rd Sundays from September through June at 9:15am. On 4th Sundays we have two morning meetings for worship (at 9:30 and 11:00am) and on 5th Sundays we sing or have extended worship during the forum time.

Forums are informal devotional discussions, usually with a leader and about a particular topic. Forums are designed to help those who attend prepare for meeting for worship. All are welcome. Forums provide opportunities for new members, attenders, and visitors to learn more about our Meeting, what issues are of concern to the Meeting, and to get to know other individuals in the Meeting.

We will try to provide childcare only if it is requested in advance by emailing childcarerequest@fmcquaker.org.

Upcoming Forum Schedule:

Sept 13 – “Might September Actually Be the Start of a New Year?” facilitated by Jan Nisenbaum. An opportunity to reflect on how September may feel like the beginning of a new year. What are the ways we experience September as a time for “new beginnings?” What are your hopes and concerns? Is there something you would like to commit or recommit to in your spiritual or creative life?

Sept 20 – “Recognizing the Many Faces of Violence Today and Our Responses.” The Adult Spiritual Education Group will host a conversation about the range of violence in our world and how we individually and collectively respond.

Sept 27 – No Forum. Since this is a fourth Sunday, there will be hybrid Meeting for Worship in the Meetinghouse and on Zoom at 9:30am, followed by on-site refreshments, followed by low-tech Meeting for Worship in the Meetinghouse at 11:00 am

Oct 4 – “How do we remain spiritually grounded when encountering violence?” We will explore the spiritual foundations of non-violence and reflect on our own experiences and challenges. The Adult Spiritual Education Group will facilitate this conversation as a follow-up to the September 20 forum on “Recognizing the Many Faces of Violence”. You are free to attend this forum even if you weren’t able to attend on September 20.

Oct 11 – “The Choices We Make” with Laura Wolfe. We will explore how our leadings/opportunities effect our life choices.
